Well, if you keep doing what you always did, you’ll keep getting what you always got.
That is a tricky little phrase I should probably repeat from other perspective. If you want to change what you always got, you need to change what you always did.
Facebook is not the only place where you can promote your business for free and it will become even harder with their forthcoming changes to eventually block free advertising so that they can force more businesses to pay for advertisements.
The same apply to traditional and expensive advertising because the media is not the alfa, omega and only master of marketing.
People like to think the decisions they make in life are driven by reason but many times the choices are actually irrational. We are more likely to make decisions based on previous experience or what others do rather than by careful analysis.
Isn't it for example strange that, when a business owner needs something, he/she will phone the ONE PERSON that is not on his side, a sales man, or spend hours and days to make R1000 profit but loose within seconds R1000 on something that he can get for R1000 less and equals a R1000 profit/saving.
Or working very hard to establish his business as a legimate and good business and invest a lot into it but throw it away with free email accounts or not even having a website at all. If a business owner don't even have enough confidence in his own business to invest in a domain name, proper website and hosting, how can prospects trust such business?
Also once a price or activity is established in our minds, we will compare other similar items to this 'anchor' price or activity and our willingness to pay for other items in the same category are judged relative to that first price or activity (the anchor). Even if we was exploited to the maximum with exorbitant prices we will consider products or services at much less as inferior even if it's precise the same or even better.
That is why people that's used to free marketing, won't pay for marketing even if it offer excellent value and likewise people that is used to paid marketing, won't use free marketing even if it also offer excellent value and why people that's used to pay R400 for hosting, won't pay R200 for hosting even if offer better value.
There is a lot that we always believed or did that we can change for the better.
